Literature Text

In my sorrows,
I sit alone.
Each day I regret.
Each day I condone.

I regret my mistakes,
And condone those with charm.
Then regret my condones,
For they might have meant harm.

I regret and condone
Yet regret more in the end.
It’s possibly why
I can’t call many “Friend.”

My trust is rare
And hard to earn.
It’s also rare if
I show much concern.

‘Cause I’m tangled up
In condone and regret.
I’ve spent so much time,
I have a big debt.

I owe so much time
‘Cause I’ve spent a ton
On regretting the past
And things that I’ve done.

I sit in my sorrows
Each day alone.
Condoning regrets,
And regretting condones.
I wrote this poem in 8th grade, I think. It's also one of my favorites. I was SOOOO happy after I finished it and I was so pleased with how it turned out.
I still love it but I think that open, un-metered, un-fixed poetry has so many more options. It's dropping on my list, poems like Speak, Freshman and Tainted are jumping ahead.
